Sister quilt fair and update

Wow it has been way to long since I have updated!
Well earlier this month Sisters had their annual quilt show. It was amazing! So many quilts to look at. I went with a good friend of mine and I think between the two of us we took over 200 pictures. I figured I would post some of my favorites and the ones that have inspired me the most. I have so many projects to start now!!
I thought this one was simple but AMAZING!

Of course this one caught my eye since I LOVE zebras! (if you can't tell)

the friend I was with loves birds, and this was very creative

So whimsical!

I think this one caught my eye because its the fabrics I love which is weird because they aren't fabrics I would pick OTB themselves

I just might have to try this pattern!!

again fabrics I love!!! I saw this one from 2 streets away!

close up! Isn't it amazing!!

I actually have the pattern for this one. It's nice to see it in person.

I LOVE this border fabric!!!!

Okay this quilt was amazing! And selling for $1000. It's Alice and Wonderland there was no paneling used, which makes it even more amazing!

look at these details! I think the mad hadder hat was my favorite.

We're all mad here...

more fabrics I love and look at that pattern! All the blocks are the same just set differently. I'm all for making life easier!

It just POPS!

this peacock was amazing!!!

Look how beautiful!

more birds! I love the colors on this one as well

inspiration for my Dr. Seuss quilt I'm making.

I couldn't get a good picture because the wind was blowing up it's artsy right?

That's all for the quilt show.

If you are the person I am making the Dr. Seuss quilt for do NOT scroll down! I want it to be a surprise! LOL

I have also been working on my Dr. Seuss quilt for a friend. I am having some issues with the fact that apparently I can not measure. Right now the top is 3 inches bigger than the middle and bottom rows. I am thinking of just adding material to the bottom 2 rows and making it unbalanced. It's Dr. Seuss he's random and unbalanced right?! So here are pictures of what I have so far.

Projects/Fabrics

I decided to take pictures of the fabrics for my projects I would like to work on and get done by the fall!  So here they are!!

I dont know what I want to do with this fabric yet (2 seperate pieces) but I LOVE it!! look how cute the short fat zebras with big butts are!!

This is the fabric for a doll I want to make my niece

This one is for my other niece I love the little animals also!

These are the fabrics for my throw pillows for my couch. (can you tell I love animal print?!)

The flower print is a fabric I found later and can't believe how well it matches!! I'm not sure what I am planning on doing with it yet. I dont know if I want to add it to my pillows  or not

I have 2 panels of this that I got for 50 cents each. I figured I could make something for my nieces at that price :)

more fabric I got for 50 cents for the nieces

I found this fabric and fell in love! I LOVE vintage prints!! I'm going to make a sewing project bag out of it.

a closer look at other side of the fabric

a few of my impulsive buys as well as some fabrics I recieved from the shop hop we recently had.

Anybody have any ideas for some of these fabrics? I can always use the help!

Taking a break

So I havent done any sewing in about a week. So I've decided I would let you know a little more about myself and what this blog is all about!
I wanted a place to put all my projects rather than just posting them on facbook. I've always loved doing crafty things. I grew up with a mom who catered and was in did multiple parties. I've always loved going with her and looking at all the different ideas and decorations.
For all of you out there who are saying thats all fine and dandy but im not a creative person. Knock it off! Im telling you, you can do it! I have been sewing for about a year and I still can't sew straight. Right now my biggest thing is sewing but I do other things as well. I've been trying to get back into scrapbooking and I LOVE to bake! In fact in the next week I will be making 3 different birthday cakes/cupcakes! I'm making devils food cupcakes with a chocolate cream cheese filling and a butter cream frosting, a spice cake with cream cheese frosting, and red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and chocolate garnish. (yes I love cream cheese frosting ;))
Another thing I will be working on for the next two weeks is a birthday present for my niece who is turning 4! I think what I'm going to do is make a fabric paper doll with some fabric I have and then make little outfits that velcrow to her. or I have some Dora fabric I would like to make something with. I'm not quite sure yet...
I would love more, I could talk all day about sewing and myself but my beautiful nieces are over so im going to spend some time with them :)

and yes I know my thought process is all over the place sorry its one of my biggest flaws :p

Dr. Seuss quilt

So my friend is having a baby boy and wants to have his room Dr. Seuss themed! How awesome is that?! So I am making her a quilt to match his room as well as throwing her a Dr. Seuss themed baby shower. So far I have started collecting fabrics for the quilt. After these last 2 projects I think im going to do something a little more simple. At first I gave her the option of picking out the pattern but now I think I might just make it up as I go along. Make something fun but at the same time something that isnt going to stress me out or take every waking minute to finish. When I get a chance I will post pictures of the fabrics and maybe give some ideas that I have. And once I start collecting things for the baby shower I will post pictures of those as well! Right now everything is still in the planning stages! Wish me luck!!

Mothers day

After finishing my sisters quilt (2 days before her birthday) I decided I needed another sewing project. So I made my mom a tote bag for all of her teaching/music books. Of course picked out my fabric and then put off the project until the last minute.  (my sisters birthday was the week before mothers day!) I was thinking oh its just a bag it wont take much time! ya right... I of course wanted it to be super cute and nothing simple. So I started 2 days before I had to have it done. It it wasnt for my more experienced friend who I call the purse/bag queen I would never have finished it! I was up until 2:30 in the getting all the pieces together. We had to do a little manuvering so I had enough fabric to do what I wanted. SO ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH FABRIC OR A BACK UP PLAN!! After mothers day I will post pictures, of course it has to be a suprise! :)

As promised I have at least one picture!

16th brithday quilt

My name is Wendi and Ive decided to start a blog about all my sewing projects. Growing up I was forced to do sewing projects so I decided that I hated sewing. But now an adult and away from being forced intos sewing I have met new friends that are really into sewing and quilting. SO I am now a sewer! I just started about a year ago so I cant do super difficult projects but I have so much fun and it helps me when I need a break from everyday life. I dont think I could finish a single project without my sewing sidekicks and I can NOT sew/cut straight to save my life. But I feel like this gives your project a personality that only you can give ;)

For my sisters 16th birthday I made her a quilt with all her favorite colors. It took a total of 4 months and was a farely simple design. But with school I needed something tgat wouldnt take a horribly long time. It was stressful with the amount of colors I chose. you have to make sure you dont have a lot of the same color o block next to eachother.

here are a few photos I have of the quilt!
